I am Tharani Rajamanickam from India and I am here to share a few words with you on how Workshift changed my life and career! Like everyone else out there, I too searched for a job after getting my B. Tech degree and got placed in a job. It was a KPO wherein I was assigned weekly targets, monthly targets, KRA reviews, and several other kinds of usual stuff. Although I could shine well in all these aspects, the payment I got was not sufficient for my economic growth.

How did you learn about Workshift?

Then, I decided to seek higher education and quit my job. While I was preparing for my higher education, I saw an advertisement about Workshift and from this ad I came to know about the opportunities to work for Japanese companies. This was the turning point in my life!

What do you like about working with Workshift?

As it is free to register with Workshift I signed up and created a profile here. Within just a few days of continuous trying I began getting projects from Japanese clients. You could say this is where my freelance journey kick-started! I was not aware how it would be to do freelancing before this. Now, I would say this is the best way to earn your living. I have no stress. I feel no pressure and no pain. Here, I am the boss of myself. If I like a particular job posting, I apply. I can set my own deadlines here and I earn my living, just like that.

Was it hard to adjust to the freelance life/work balance?

Now, let me compare myself ‘Before Workshift’ and ‘After Workshift’. When I was working in a company, I could not take off even one day without adequate advance planning. Even if my advance planning was diligent it was not easy for my team members. But, in freelancing, I am able to take breaks whenever I need to and whenever I fell like it. Most importantly, I am able to spend more time with my niece, nephew, and friends. Nowadays, we frequently plan for outings, which is really wonderful! Even if its just a coffee or a movie with friends and family. This is more fun, right?

Also, here I have more control over the earnings I make. Each month will be different from other months. Yes, it’s true for everyone, but now I am managing my finances like never before! Thus, my self-respect is maintained!

Do you have any advice for prospective freelancers?

I would say Workshift is a very good platform for freelancers like me. You might be thinking that Workshift is only for Japanese workers. But, it’s not so! Lots of opportunities are available for non-Japanese people from overseas as well. The platform is designed in a way that makes it accessible to people from all over the globe and hence, they have chosen the global language ‘English’ to be used on their platform. Yes, I had some difficulties to catch up in the beginning but thanks to the Workshift Support team who were very kind to me and guided at every stage from registration to even today. I would proudly say that I am a happy Workshift freelancer now!
