For me, freelancing is not just about earning money.
Hello, I’m May from Shanghai, China. I was exempt from paying tuition at Japanese universities so after I graduated high school in China I applied to and was admitted to a university in Japan. When I graduated from the Japanese university I joined a large Japanese chemical manufacturing company.
After working in Japan for about 3 years I moved back to Shanghai. Then, through a company in the finance industry I moved to Europe to start business school for earning a masters degree in business (MBA). Now I am back in Shanghai working in an internal consulting role for a chemical company.
I started working as a freelancer back when I was in business school. At that time I registered with a consulting type of freelance platform and would get PowerPoint presentation creation work and market research related jobs. With that experience as a springboard I then began to register with other freelance platforms.
Through those platforms I was able to secure a large 6-month consulting project. At that time I was already close to graduating from business school and I was not planning to return to Shanghai but that large consulting project sent me to Shanghai for an onsite job so, at the end of the day, after I graduated from business school in Europe I decided to return to Shanghai.
Not long after returning to Shanghai I discovered Workshift and I was eventually hired on Workshift for some market research jobs, interpretation work, and various other jobs where I was able to leverage my Japanese skills as well as the business skills that I picked up from my MBA experience.
I have worked with several freelance platforms over the past few years and, in my opinion, Workshift is the safest and most reliable platform I have worked with. My satisfaction with Workshift is based on the 13 projects that I completed on their platform. I am pleased to report that I received high evaluations from the clients from those projects. My average score is 5 out of a maximum of 5.
I was also impressed by Workshift management when they contacted me directly me in order to introduce me to their new clients. Best of all, I am happy to say that payment from Workshift has never been late and overseas money transfers from Tokyo to Shanghai have always been smooth.
For me, freelancing is not just about earning money. It is also an opportunity to experience and learn about new fields and perhaps even new business opportunities can arise from them. So I see this as not only a platform to learn new things but also as a platform where new opportunities might be realized.
