Hello to everyone! My name is Ekaterina from Moscow, Russia. I am an interpreter/translator of Japanese, English, and Russian. My working experience started in 2005, right after I graduated from Moscow State University and finished my studies at Tokai University (Japan).
- You appear to enjoy a very multicultural life. Why?
I like building a bridge between different cultures and countries, and I find it very interesting to help people from different countries to connect.
- What do you like about Japan?
Japan is one of my favorite places: I like absolutely everything about it: big cities, small towns, nature, food, culture, people, the way Japanese people adore their own country.
- Where do you like to travel?
There are lots of things I like to do in my spare time, and one of them is travelling. I love visiting other countries. I like to explore the European countries. I often go on bicycle trips to Europe: going through Switzerland from North to South, exploring Provence (France), seeing how people live and what the nature is like.
- What kind of leisure activities do you like?
I adore mountains: I love mountain skiing and every winter I make sure I go skiing to get plenty of emotions for the next year. I am fond of sea: I like swimming and go to the seaside every summer. Portugal, Greece, Italy - so many places to visit and enjoy. I also like meeting with friends, walking around my home city, reading books, photography.
Travelling a lot, I don't really have a chance to have a pet at home, but if I could, I would be glad to have a cat or a big dog.
- Are there any social issues in the world that you care about?
As I travel around the world, I realize that there are two important topics we need to take a closer look at: people's non-acquaintance about other countries and ecological problems. I do think that there should be closer connections between different countries and cultures, as it happens so that sometimes some people from one country have no knowledge about life and culture of people from other countries, which can cause misunderstandings.
More international festivals and events would connect people from different countries and enable the to share more information about each other. Ecological issues are another big problem in the world: we have one Earth to explore, and everyone should realize how blessed we are to have trees, seas, rivers, mountains, water, animals, plants and many more. It is time to pay attention to our activities and invent new measures to save our planet.
- Where is your hometown?
I was born in Moscow (Russia) and I have been living here since I was born. Moscow, the capital of Russia, is a country in a country, as some people say. There is nothing you cannot find in Moscow. There is delicious food from every country in the world, plenty of events, beautiful nature, lovely buildings, and cultural festivals.
My heart belongs here, and I am always happy to welcome friends and colleagues here to show them around and introduce Russia to them. Each person I know is always impressed when they have a chance to see my city. I like travelling, and I like coming back to my family and friends.
- Are you currently employed fulltime?
I left an office job in 2016 and right now I work at short-time projects with my former partners (the Japanese and the Russians) as a freelancer.
I consult, translate, interpret, organize meetings, and help with business development. My clients are mostly industrial companies. Anyhow, I am planning to get back to an office job.
- How did you get involved with Workshift?
Several years ago I found out about Workshift - the platform where Japanese companies and businessmen can find freelancers from other countries. I registered immediately and was impressed by how easy it was to connect with customers and find a job to apply to. Checking the jobs uploaded by the customers, I came across a variety of different topics and subjects: online games, Japanese culture, history and many more.
- What are the benefits of working with Workshift?
By working on the projects at Workshift, you always learn a lot, which is very exciting. The platform is unique and easy to use: you find a job, you apply, you get a job quickly (if you are chosen by the customer), and then you upload your work results.
- What are your impressions of Workshift?
The great thing about Workshift is that both customers and freelancers are safe in terms of money: Workshift makes sure that freelancers get paid and clients get the work done. I am also impressed by the fact that the payment procedure is so smooth and clear - while many online platforms often make mistakes, I have never had any problems with Workshift so far!
- Do you have any advice for new Workshift freelancers?
