All I need is a laptop and I’m good to start work anywhere!

Konichiwa mina-san! I'm Jess from Malaysia and I am one of the freelancers working on English/Chinese translation, market research and data entry jobs on Workshift. I am an adventurous girl and I love to travel around the world, meet different people, indulge myself with various kinds of cuisine and just enjoy my life!

- What does working for Workshift mean to you?

Working for Workshift enables me to work wherever I want and whenever I want.

I have all the freedom to complete projects at my own pace. All I need is a laptop and I'm good to start work anywhere! Another thing, Workshift payment is always on time and never delayed. They transferred the payment into my bank account and everything went smoothly.

- What are some of your most memorable experiences traveling around the world?

I am really grateful that I had the opportunity to study in the United Kingdom and gain experience working with refugees under the Ministry of Justice. That experience totally opened up my world and taught me so much.

- What did you learn from the corporate world?

Stepping into the corporate world meant another chapter of my life for me as I gained insights into different industries and equipped myself with skills and knowledge that made me who I am today. Experiences in the corporate world taught me some valuable lessons about discipline, teamwork and communication.

Sometimes I needed to handle projects by myself and without self-discipline, I would not be able to finish the projects on time without some supervision from management. Cooperation and communication with colleges and other team members are extremely important to get any job done effectively. Always remember, “if you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together.”

- What is your relationship with Japan?

EAT, PLAY, LOVE is really the philosophy of my life. I work hard for Workshift, and then I play even harder! I still remember the first time when I visited Japan. It was LOVE at first sight! I fell in love with Japan and I enjoyed the food, and people are so nice, many interesting places to explore and I just can't get enough of Japan. Although I can't stay in Japan permanently, Workshift gives me valuable opportunities to work with companies from Japan and make my dreams come true! 

- Do you have any advice for new freelancers?

Workshift is the perfect platform for you to be connected with organizations from Japan and worth giving them a try. You will be exposed to lots of projects and opportunities and gain great experience that will benefit you. 

It's a great experience working for Workshift and I have never looked back since then!
