Polish your Artistic Senses Relentlessly and Never Give-up
By joining Workshift I was able to gain real world work experience in design outside of school
I’m Nozomiliu from Taiwan and I’m currently studying graphic design in Japan. It’s not easy! Everyday I’m buried under the weight of some heavy themes and have no time to relax but occasionally, when I do find a free day, I wonder off to the bookstore to read books and peer at illustration magazines to try to expand my horizons.
I sometimes find exhibitions to go to or I might even take a ride on the train to enjoy the beauty of some seasonal scenic spots.
- As a design student what benefit does Workshift offer you?
By joining Workshift I was able to gain real work experience in design outside of school, work that my classmates have not been able to attain. This allowed me to draw and test designs that do not correspond to themes covered at school and design company pamphlets using the skills that I learned at school.
Moreover, with Workshift I can take on jobs regardless of my location in the world, whether I’m in Tokyo or anywhere else in the world. This is simply remarkable.
- How does this help your future job search?
Going forward, I plan to continue building on the design and artistic sense that I developed at school by producing new and more attractive artwork. Together with Workshift I hope to increase my real world work experience and combine it with my academic foundation to support my future career search activities.
- What words of advice can you give other novice designers?
My advice to prospective new freelancers who are novice designers like me is to observe, sketch and draw as much artwork as you can within your daily lifestyle routine. Train yourself and polish your artistic senses! Just practice relentlessly and never give up!
