Hello from the other side of the world!
My name is Anyela and I live in Caracas, Venezuela. I share the day to day with my husband, working as a freelancer and developing other skills such as learning more about 3D modeling, digital illustration, cooking, gardening and handcraft. I love playing video games, especially puzzles!
I like to watch anime and listen to J-rock. I studied Japanese language at the Japanese embassy of my city, but I could not advance in the oral practice because there were no students at that time (but I sing a lot in Japanese!). And I was in a Japanese rock cover band as bassist and chorus singer. Since I was very young I have been involved in computing and graphic design so, I studied at the university Visual Arts in the specialty of graphic arts / printmaking.
THE CATALYST FOR JOINING WORKSHIFT
I found workshift in a Facebook announcement, at that time I was already in other freelance sites but with Workshift I saw the opportunity to offer my services in CGI because there is a category on Workshift that offers it! There was a contest to design a banner for the growth of Workshift and although I do not like competitions, I participated in this one and I won. Here in Workshift there are few projects on visual communication, graphic design and 3d to apply for but I try to participate whenever I have the opportunity, I hope this area will expand much more in the future.
HOW WORKSHIFT FITS YOUR LIFESTYLE (BENEFITS OF FREELANCING)
Among the benefits is that it is not mandatory to wait for the weekend to enjoy some activity, but it is in exchange for committing your weekend to meet the project deadline if you have one. If I am overwhelmed by work I can take the afternoon off or take a couple of hours to work on a hobby and then resume the job later more relaxed or if I'm very excited about the project I might work until very late. Another advantage is that the work is not monotonous and one client is very different from another and with this, more and more experience is acquired given the diversity of projects that are presented.
ADVICE FOR NEW WORKSHIFT FREELANCERS
Pay close attention to what the client wants in its job description and ask what is necessary if there are doubts to avoid delays or to avoid excess work for a low price. Being sincere is important. Never calculate the time just for the delivery, for example, to make a project takes 2 days, ask for 4 days because one never knows if there problems might arise (corrections, problems with the hardware or you get sick, for example). And be kind and responsible with the deliveries so that they ask for your services again and / or they might recommend you to other possible new clients.
3 things about my experience with Workshift
-
1. My impression of Japanese clients
Japanese clients are very kind and punctual with clear indications of what they want in the project.
-
2. Different perceptions I have about the Japanese from the local business culture
I think Japanese customers are more precise in what they look for as a result, but I find it similar to the local one if it comes from a big company where good treatment in hiring is important. On the other hand, on the part of an individual or a small business there are some who are responsible and others who are slow to respond or do not want to pay what is asked. There is a wide range of clients, some with not only been local experience but also experience with the rest of the world.

3. My most memorable job on Workshift platform.
My most memorable job was the first time when I won the banner contest! I thought “What?” “Really?” I’m not sure yet if I won” but when I saw a positive answer from the client it was a happy moment and then later to see the positive numbers in real income! More happiness. And when my second client offered more, additional work, is was really great because that means they truly liked my work!
