Staying on schedule and providing high quality outcome are my goal
Hi all, I’m Rico from Hong Kong, working as a Cost Accountant despite my major at university being Nutrition. I also started my in-depth study about Japan when I was at university by taking Japanese Culture as a minor. I love Japanese culture and I get along with many Japanese friends here in Hong Kong. There are regular gatherings with the Japanese who work or study here, and I help them adapt to the local life. The politeness and caring manners my Japanese friends show always surprises me. I also teach Japanese language to non-Japanese students in my leisure time. My students are lovely, and I share whatever I know about Japan with them.
My Colorful Life
I love travelling and learning new things. Travelling can broaden my horizon and I get to meet new friends from all over the world. Thus, I like to learn different foreign languages. The best way to understand people is by communicating in their native languages, and I hope that I can help to translate thoughts of people from different parts of the world. After finishing N1 study of Japanese language, I have started learning Korean and Spanish. The process of learning is hard but delighting.
Getting out of your comfort zone is very important. I like to try new things: diving, skiing, mountain climbing, etc. Through every breakthrough I can find my new potential and go further. In addition to learning new foreign languages, I will soon start my new challenge to further study Japanese translation. I am looking forward to the brand new me.
How I Balance My Daily Job and Freelancing
As a Cost Accountant, the daily workload is heavy. People may think it’s impossible to juggle both day job and freelancing. In order to overcome this, I think time management and planning are very important. Working with Workshift has strengthened my time management skill. I will evaluate how much time I need to deliver my work before applying for the jobs. Staying on schedule and providing high quality outcome are my goal. I always aim at finishing the project before the deadline as I think it’s good to give clients plenty of time to review my work.
My Experience with With Workshift
Because of my love for Japanese culture, I have been wanting to use my knowledge of Japan and Japanese language at work. Although I don't have such opportunities within my current company, luckily I met Workshift. Workshift provides the best platform for people like me, connecting Japanese clients and freelancers all over the world. By working through Workshift, I have developed various insights of Japan- for instance, travel, traditional cuisine, and cosmetics. The harder you work, the more you learn.
Start working with Workshift is really simple. Register your account, get your identity verified, then fill in your own portfolio and experience. That's all.
Clients at Workshift are very nice and willing to communicate with freelancers, instead of just giving orders. As a freelancer I get a chance to express my opinions for each job. We both share ideas, and then collaborate to produce the best product. Japanese clients are willing to give chances for new freelancers. If a freelancer has any questions about the job, the client will communicate clearly about its needs and requirements. As a freelancer, the only thing to keep in mind is to be on time. Being on time is the basic manner in Japan. Freelancers just need to focus on their work, and Workshift will take care of the rest. There’s no need to worry about the payment, because it's always exact and punctual. It’s also hassle-free and you have a choice of getting paid into your bank account or PayPal account. You just need to do your best to deliver your product!
