Hi all, I’m Rico from Hong Kong, working as a Cost Accountant despite my major at university being Nutrition. I also started my in-depth study about Japan when I was at university by taking Japanese Culture as a minor. I love Japanese culture and I get along with many Japanese friends here in Hong Kong. There are regular gatherings with the Japanese who work or study here, and I help them adapt to the local life. The politeness and caring manners my Japanese friends show always surprises me. I also teach Japanese language to non-Japanese students in my leisure time. My students are lovely, and I share whatever I know about Japan with them.

My Colorful Life

 I love travelling and learning new things. Travelling can broaden my horizon and I get to meet new friends from all over the world. Thus, I like to learn different foreign languages. The best way to understand people is by communicating in their native languages, and I hope that I can help to translate thoughts of people from different parts of the world. After finishing N1 study of Japanese language, I have started learning Korean and Spanish. The process of learning is hard but delighting.

 Getting out of your comfort zone is very important. I like to try new things: diving, skiing, mountain climbing, etc. Through every breakthrough I can find my new potential and go further. In addition to learning new foreign languages, I will soon start my new challenge to further study Japanese translation. I am looking forward to the brand new me.

How I Balance My Daily Job and Freelancing

 As a Cost Accountant, the daily workload is heavy. People may think it’s impossible to juggle both day job and freelancing. In order to overcome this, I think time management and planning are very important. Working with Workshift has strengthened my time management skill.
