I have a background in both web development and content production, with over ten years' experience as a web, mobile and systems developer in a bilingual (Japanese-English) environment. I also have excellent communications and writing skills – I have authored five traditionally published books and done extensive copywriting and marketing work on tech-related projects. I run my own small company (Lobster Enterprises YK) and do consulting work for clients.

Website production and content creation (2000-present)
I planned, developed and created a series of popular city-guide websites starting with Bento.com restaurant guide. As a 20-plus-year-long project it has evolved extensively in terms of both content and technology. Features include:
• static pages generated from a SQL database with custom-developed software
• interactive map-related functions
• GPS-based search (using Google Maps API and other services)
• text-based search (PHP/MySQL)
• a simple API delivering HTML and JSON content
• two of the newer sites are laid out entirely in CSS Grid, with no Javascript framework
Other active sites currently include AnimalCafes.com, WhereInTokyo.com, TokyoPicks.com and BeerBarsJapan.com.

Android, Facebook and Windows apps (2012-2020)
Designed and produced two Japan-related Android apps, one Windows app, and one Facebook app:
• JpConverter (Java, Python): converts Japanese traditional measurements, historical dates and Chinese zodiac years. Android version in Google Play Store. Windows desktop app (beta; Python .exe) available at GitHub.
• Sushi Dictionary (Java): a Japanese-food dictionary with text-to-speech, search-by-voice, image-search and sharing capabilities; available in Google Play Store.
• My Favorite Sushi: an entertaining Facebook app for sharing your sushi preferences.

Online storefront creation and integration with third-party shopping cart (2015-2018)
• Creation and development of two specialized storefronts selling Japanese toy robots and cat-themed goods
• Customization of storefront and integration with Volusion eCommerce site
• Promotion of storefront using Facebook and Google ads
