I have an undergraduate degree in English literature and a PhD in Japanese literature from Cambridge University, and I was an editor and tenured lecturer in environmental communication at Kyoto University Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies for more than 10 years, before choosing to split my year working as a freelance editor from Kendal in the UK while teaching secondary school children about sustainability in Shiga prefecture, Japan. In 2018, I established my own company, Hidden Lakeland, offering sustainable tours of the Lake District to Japanese visitors.

I work well remotely, with minimal or no supervision. I am also an enthusiastic and resourceful team-worker offering fluency in Japanese, integrity, and a passionate commitment to quality.
