I am a 43-year-old Commerce graduate from the University of Kolkata. I am married and have a 10-year-old daughter. Currently I am working as the state correspondent for DNA newspaper of Zee Media. I hail from Topsia, an area in south Kolkata. My parents wanted never approved me of being a journalist and wanted to get into our family business. I had been a renegade child and thought of pursuing my dreams but with only a commerce degree with me it had been a swim against the current. I was politely kicked out from several offices till an Assistant Editor of Hindustan Times gave me a break. I freelanced there for three years and then took a test at The Statesman which hired three persons out of the 450 who wrote the test. That was in 2004 and since then I have worked for four national newspapers. In the last 14 years, I worked for four national newspapers. I have a good sense of humour and I am an easy going person to work with.
