Professional Experience
I was born in Ukraine but moved to Canada when I was 2 years old. After growing up in Canada I went to high school and university in New York. After that, I lived in Czech, Ukraine, Morocco, and Japan.
One of my strong points is adjusting to different environments, which is why I can quickly catch on to the subtleties of a language. The same thing goes for translation. In order to accurately translate a text, we must understand the environment it was written in. It goes beyond simply conveying the meaning, which is why I strive to include accurate cultural equivalents as much as possible. Aside from doing small translation work for my recent internship (Japanese product reviews and descriptions), I enjoy doing Japanese to English translations during my free time.
Currently, I am a full-time English teacher, part-time blogger, and ceramic artist. In my free time, I like to organize language exchanges for Japanese, Russian, and English languages.
