In Canada, “cow-houses” are classified into “Farm Buildings” which means a building or part thereof which does not contain residential occupancy and which is associated with and located on land devoted to the practice of farming, and used essentially for the housing of equipment or livestock, or the production, storage or processing of agricultural and horticultural produce or feeds. Due to its low human occupancy*, easing measures in a certain level are granted for construction of cow-houses.

* Low human occupancy means, when applies to a farm building, an occupancy in which the occupant load is not more than one person 40 square meters of floor area during normal use.
