● Screened and identified potential targets for business partnerships and mergers & acquisitions in Southeast Asia for clients. Assessed the targets’ competitive advantages, positioning and strategic fit.
● Conducted in-depth due diligence research on 70+ companies in Vietnam, including leading firms in emerging sectors such as food & beverage, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, real estate and financial services.
● Synthesized business intelligence from multiple sources to identify ultimate shareholders, corporate structure, and potential risks and liabilities.
● Retrieved financial statements of private companies and performed trend, ratio and common size analyses.
● Monitored key players, concurrent trends and events in emerging sectors in Vietnam. Evaluated the impact of the industry trends and events.
● Sourced and evaluated new providers of lower-cost financial data and business intelligence in Vietnam, leading to an overall cost reduction by 5 times.
● Developed a relative valuation model to estimate the value of equity of 680+ private companies across 11 sectors in 20 Asian countries. Collaborated with internal tech team to fully automate the data retrieval and valuation processes.
● Provided SQL commands and workflow to software engineers to facilitate the development of an internal portal that enabled all research analysts to discretionarily ingest research findings into the back-end database in Microsoft SQL Server, thereby resolving operational bottleneck and improving productivity.

● Assisted the Knowledge team in a project to improve business strategies of a leading supermarket operator in Vietnam.
● Consolidated and integrated different sources of client’s large-volume unstructured data on sales, expenses and inventory of 100,000 product categories in the client’s network of 20+ convenience stores. Analyzed sale, expense and inventory data to identify underperforming product categories.
● Tested the relationships between sales and independent variables such as inventory levels, product types and sizes. Assisted senior consultants in formulating improvement strategies for the clients based on the test results.
● Estimated profitability and same-store-sale-growth of client’s competitors in Southeast Asia. Benchmarked the client’s profitability and same-store-sale-growth.
● Fulfilled research requests from BCG offices in Southeast Asia.
