Economist-Fiscal, Macro and Social Sector Policy

Major Responsibilities:
Primarily, as a Economist, I provide research support to the PRI directors, who are highly acclaimed Economist and experts in Bangladesh and abroad ( Details available on the website). Additionally, I also conduct independent research in areas of my relevant expertise and specialisation which are macroeconomic forecasting and management, public finance and social sector policy issues.
In particular, I support PRI research work in the following areas :
▪ Various economic policy issues relating to the Bangladesh economy with special focus on fiscal policy, macroeconomic and financial sector issues.
▪ Providing inputs to the preparation of draft reports resulting from PRI contracts with the Planning Commission, Ministry of Finance, National Board of Revenue, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, International Finance Corporation, DFID, CIDA, USAID, and other government and non-government agencies that arise from time to time.
▪ Mobilisation, collection and regular monitoring of data on fiscal and other financial and social sector issues. These include data on budget, revenue developments, financial sector and macroeconomic issues.
▪ Develop selective cross-country database on various macroeconomic and financial sector variables.
▪ 10% of my time is devoted as point person for PRI’s international communications.
