Senior HR Executive cum Assistant HR Manager

V.V. Karunaratne Group of Companies has been in the fields of civil construction (ICTAD - C1 graded) and commercial transportation in Sri Lanka for over past 45 years and the company carries out its business as a construction contractor for roads and highways, bridges, high-rise buildings, Hydro Power Works and also involved in Cargo Transportation, Freight Forwarding, Shipping, Aluminum Fabrications, Mining and Asphalt and Producing Ready-mix etc and its total cadre strength is over 300.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Recruitment and Selection

a) Developing HR plans with Project managers, which consider immediate and long-term staff requirements in terms of numbers and skill levels.

b) Undertake the full range of staff recruitment and selection processes within agreed timeframes, including support to line management, drafting and placing advertisements, coordinating candidate information and interviews, preparation of selection reports before get them finalized with Managing Director/s, conducting reference checks etc.

c) Coordinate and manage the orientation of new employees


d) Issuing Letter of Appointments, Assist divisional heads in developing job descriptions (JDs), its appropriate review and update and on-time distribution.
e) Issuing contract extension letters/renewal letters timely and handover them on-time to respective employees

2. Training &Development

a) Identify and Analyze training needs to develop employees, Preparing training calendar and training plan annually accordingly and coordinate with the outside training institutions/Universities for the same.

3. People management &Development

a) Ensure that HR team promote and maintain a high standard of professional practices when and where necessary
b) To delegate appropriate responsibility and authority to the level of staff within his/her control, consistent with effective decision making, whilst retaining responsibility for results.
c) Review the contribution of HR staff on a regular basis and also maintain good staff relationships and morale amongst them through effective feedback, recognition, appraisal and development.
d) To deputize for the Human Resources Manager in his absence up to some extent.

4. Handling No Claim Procedure for resigned /terminated or retired employees and release final dues (i.e. Final Remuneration, Service Letters, and EPF Documents etc.).

5. Attending to legal matters, disciplinary investigations and domestic inquiries as appropriate.

6. In consultation with Group Human Resources Manager, assist to specified divisions, project managers, and site manager’s senior staff on HR management, organizational structure issues, workplace relations and OSH matters.

7. Fulfilling ISO requirement of the company.

8. Provide general HR administrative support across the organization.

 Apart from the above duties and responsibilities I am acting as an Administration Manager for one of the subsidiary company of V.V.Karunaratne & Company; ACCURATE INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION CENTRE, who providing education consultancy services for the universities in USA, UK, New Zealand, Australia ,Canada and Malaysia.
