Traveller & Freelancer

2018/01～ 2018/06

In January of 2018 I went travelling to Asia. Having saved for the past year while working full time I left my previous employment to pursue travel. This was something I had wanted to do for many years. Setting off in January my first stop was Bali. After Bali I proceeded to Singapore, Thailand, Japan, South Korea then back to a different region of Japan. I hope to see much more of the world before my time is done and I settle down. To be able to put my skills to use in documenting these adventures is a dream come true.
During this time away I dedicated and worked towards a goal of freelance writing and photography. Both these thing are a huge passion of mine, having previously worked on websites, blogs, vlogs and done writing for others, I thoroughly enjoy putting my own life experiences down into words. I am also able to put my years of experience and intricate knowledge of the internet to good use by knowing how to rapidly do research in many fields.
While travelling I have focused on building my website and social media presence, this form of advertising has helped boost my brand. In February I was able to get my first paid freelance article published which is now viewable online. Alongside the freelance work I used this time to build my website and further my knowledge of wordpress, blogging, video and image editing, social media and how to make full use of SEO.

Production & Warehouse Operative

2016/10～ 2017/12

After the closure of Chesterfield Forge as a registered business, I found full time work at a local firm called Northern Tea & Coffee Merchants.
I was hired primarily to work with the production staff. This included packaging various products ready for distribution to companies such as Harrods of London. Other duties included learning the coffee roasting process and learning Tea & Coffee blending. In a job like this, there was a big emphasis on working to very tight schedules for production and major strip and cleans of the factory. When needed I was taken off production to help the maintenance engineer with various duties and also to staff the warehouse. This role involved moving raw product to production areas and moving completed product out and getting it ready for distribution. I was also asked to drive the fork truck for loading and unloading lorries when needed.

Cleaner & Caretaker

2016/09～ 2016/09

I started a part-time cleaning job at a local Sainsbury's store. I took this job for extra income as self-employment was becoming increasingly harder, this was due to economic pressure and ever growing government restrictions that directly affected the sales of my biggest value wares.

Private Contractor

2012/01～ 2016/08

During my period of self-employment I would hire out my services as a private contractor. This service would include handyman work and meant I would be hired by a number of firms and businesses including my previous employer Zachrome, gardening businesses and a local GYM to help with refurbishment.

Sole Proprietor of Chesterfield Forge

2012/01～ 2016/08

Upon completion of my qualifications at Zachrome, I was made redundant due to company financial problems. After this, I formed my own company where I produced art and tools from raw materials. My wares included custom knives, leather work, obsidian knapped arrowheads, junk art and ornamental ironwork such as gates and fences. Aside from the physical production I also had to spend time on advertising my products. To do this I built several websites and online stores. I also set up a youtube channel which helped in building a substantial online presence as well as promoting brand recognition.
This also started me on my path of learning web design, blogging, the functions of social media and brand advertisement. I also became very knowledgeable with wordpress and how SEO works.

Engineering Maintenance Apprenticeship

2008/01～ 2012/01

In 2008 upon leaving school I started work as a maintenance engineer apprentice. I was working towards an advanced engineering qualification for a company called Zachrome (R. Wilson & Co. Ltd).
This job was physically demanding, it included a wide range of tasks that helped me develop my physical working skills and knowledge, it also helped me learn from a young age the responsibilities of a full time job, working to strict deadlines so production was only affected for a shorter period as possible.
