DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION || Parks as Mnemonic Landmarks製作日数15日間希望販売価格10,000円～50,000円未満Parks are the hidden art of cities.' Inoshita (1928) posited that, ‘…a park was a place in a natural area.. .’. Yet, we know that parks within megacities like Tokyo are deceptively natural. They are merely a conception of the ‘ideal image’ of nature ‐ a man made synthetic space ‘superimposed on the face of the land, functioning and evolving not according to natural laws but to serve a community’ (Jackson, 1984, p. 8). They are canvases in which landscapers and architects shape and mould over time to create places for memory, imagination and anticipation. In their sure hands, parks have blended seamlessly with city life that most of us take nature for granted. It is in parks that we reminisce the passing season while anticipating the next blooming of sakuras.
