Junar Merla is currently connected with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bukidnon Provincial Office as Senior, Trade and Industry Development Specialist (STIDS). He is also one of the Business Development Service (BDS) providers trained in Bukidnon of Component 3, Access to Credit, of the Advancing Philippine Competitiveness (COMPETE) project, funded by the US Government through USAID and implemented by The Asia Foundation.

Mr. Merla has more than sixteen years of experience as business counsellor of DTI.

Mr. Merla received a Post Graduate Diploma in Development Studies at the Institute of Developing Economies Advanced School (IDEAS) in Chiba, Japan funded by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and finished his Master of Public Administration at the Bukidnon State University (BSU), Malaybalay City.
