I came to Japan on the JET Program and worked as an Assistant Language Teacher in Japanese public schools five years, where I actively engaged in all matters of education, language training, community outreach, and translation/interpretation. Thereafter, I moved to Tokyo and was involved in the writing, editing, and translating of English educational and Japanese cultural materials, as well as various technical/specialized documents covering primarily IT, machinery, and business. I am now working in PR and corporate communications, where my responsibilities include drafting, translating, editing, and presenting on a wide range of disclosures and reports for an equities and derivatives market operator.

日本に来てからは、教師や翻訳の仕事をしながら、独学で日本語の勉強をしました。翻訳の仕事は約５年の実務経験があります。これまで手掛けてきたことは、主にビジネス文書の日英翻訳、地方公共団体の日英翻訳、語学学習文書の日英・英日翻訳、あらゆる分野の校正やリライトです。現在も、金融・証券や法令・規則の日英翻訳・校正にも携わっております。私の長所は、言葉や文化の異なる人とも円滑にコミュニケーションが可能なことやどんな時も前向きであること、仕事を確実にやり通すことです。常に学ぶ姿勢を忘れることなく、チャレンジ精神や行動力をさらに培っていきたいと考えております。
