Principal Translator

As a principal translator, my role was to provide high-quality translation to win new customers through fierce competition with other vendors and to lead projects. I won several new clients and increased repeater customers by managing teams to sustain high quality translation and cost efficiency.
My duties include:
• Translating and proofreading IT documents, software, marketing materials, media from English to Japanese
• Managing production teams and supervising the team’s performance
• Contact point for translator teams, actors/actresses, engineers, and project managers
• Resourcing and scheduling of projects
Clients: Microsoft, Adobe, Toyota, Accenture, Citrix, HP, Sun Microsystems, Oracle, etc.

Editor/Writer

I was an editor and a writer for a monthly magazine called “New Technology Japan” which aimed to introduce new Japanese technology to other countries. Some of the serial articles I wrote were elected as the most interesting stories in the magazine by the clients, which contributed not only for the sales of magazine but also for their product sales.
My duties include:
• Liaising with PR departments of enterprises, universities, and research laboratories for research and telephone interviews
• Organising press interviews with PR departments
• Press interviews with factory managers and venture enterprises
• Writing and editing articles in Japanese
• Photo shooting of manufacturing sites
• Proof reading
• Desk top publishing
